Informatics can be applied to a wide range of environmental management applications. CEI is partnering with several state and federal agencies to create products that support the environmental decision making process.

Pennsylvania Historical Aerial Photography Library

CEI, under sponsorship of the PA Bureau of Topographic and Geologic Survey, is developing a library of historic aerial imagery covering Pennsylvania. Aerial photos from three era’s, the 40’s, 60’s, and 80’s are being scanned and will become available for public access and download. A prototype web-based interface has been developed for the collection.

We are working with the Consortium for Atlantic Regional Assessment to provide information resources that will help land use professionals, economists, government policy makers, developers, planners and the public cope with land use changes that could arise as a result of economic, industrial, or population changes, as well as from changes in climate.
